Frequently Asked Questions
A WHOIS lookup queries the global WHOIS database to retrieve registration information about a domain name — including who registered it, when it was created, when it expires, which registrar manages it, and which nameservers it uses.
Since GDPR came into force in 2018, most domain registrars redact personal information (name, address, phone, email) from public WHOIS records for privacy protection. Organization names and technical details are often still visible for business-registered domains.
Use our WHOIS Lookup and look for the Expiry Date field. The tool also shows Days Until Expiry so you can immediately see how much time is left. If the domain expires soon (under 30 days), the expiry chip will show a red warning.
ICANN status codes describe the current state of a domain. Common codes include clientTransferProhibited (the domain is locked and cannot be transferred), clientDeleteProhibited (the domain cannot be deleted), and ok (the domain is active with no restrictions).
To find domain ownership, use a WHOIS lookup tool. WHOIS databases contain registration information including registrant name, organization, email, registrar, registration date, and expiry date. Note that many domains use WHOIS privacy protection which hides personal details — you will see "REDACTED FOR PRIVACY" in those cases. Use InfiniUm Tools WHOIS Lookup to check any domain instantly.
Use a WHOIS lookup to find the domain expiry date. Enter the domain name and look for the "Expiry Date" or "Registry Expiry Date" field in the results. Set a reminder 30-60 days before expiry to renew. Expired domains can be purchased by anyone after a grace period. InfiniUm Tools WHOIS Lookup shows the exact expiry date and days remaining.
